Well said. I am posting below comments I posted in Inaaya’s blog about this issue.
I said: “The media is ominously silent at this time.
Even where I work there is this atmosphere that we “need to give time to these new people.”
I think it’s bullshit.
When Sept 11 attacks occurred, this kind of uncritical mood went on for days, but thanks to David Letterman, he returned to his old self and the whole media followed.
I think it’s time that the media start to critically analyse what Anni is doing. This whole messy Cabinet thing and his appointment of Presidential MPs and so many state ministers which goes against the spirit of the Constitution.
If we don’t criticise Anni’s government at these early stages, we cannot hope to correct the mistakes later.
But even where I work, I am finding it difficult to strike this point home.
So I am waiting silently too to see what happens. I don’t believe in “give Anni more time” thing. He has a whole lot of bright minds and great resources at his disposal and I don’t think he has a right to be taking these stupid steps at this early stage.”

This first day of office Mr.Nasheed promised the pension to EACH Maldivian above 65. But later on a press conference, he told answering a question from minivan reporter, that he didn’t say it was for all maldivians above 65!(pointing out to those who already got pensions) lol. He needs a publicist and need to be instructed about what he is saying. Or else he’s gonna be in trouble.

Now I know why Minivan news is going to stop its work. hehehe…

I don’t understand what you are hoping from the ‘construction’ of an independent Islamic affairs body. I tell you one thing. The term ‘overlooking’ is by accident well placed cos so far everything is overlooked or an oversight.

Coming to the point about construction, is it about the Islamic Sharia in the Maldives that is most corrupt of all known system where the equitable doctrine is packaged pre-sold outside of court, which you hoped someone attended? Or are you wishing Quran to replace the educational curriculum in its entirety?

Of the other countries, most Islamic countries are offering citizenship for non Muslims but fencing out the poor Muslims? Are you hoping the independent Islamic affairs in a newer construction open the door for this in the Maldives? We in the Maldives invite the poor Muslim brothers from Bangladesh to take up underclass jobs and exclude them from the human rights conventions. Human Rights Act, you like it? Cool. How will this work in a new construction?
